While in recent times we have relegated the practice of telling scary stories to the month of October and to Halloween, this has not always been the case. In fact, the telling of terrifying tales is well within Christmas tradition and the Christmas spirit. We will also share “Between The Lights” by E.F. Benson and classic tale of Christmas terror published in 1912.

EP 14: The Pope Lick Monster and Other Goatman Legends
Louisville Kentucky is the home of a legendary creature, a creature that has come to be known as the Pope Lick Monster. This creature is part man, part goat, and is rumored to lurke on the train trestles over Pope Lick Creek. One of the things that makes this frightening cryptid so unique is its kill count. There have been at least 12 deaths upon the tressels since 1968, all attributed to creatures' supernatural abilities to lure people onto the tracks. While this is the most popular Goatman legend it is not even close to being the only one. In this episode we will discuss the myths, legends, and folklore associated with The Goatman.
EP 13: The Bell Witch
The entity known as the Bell Witch is truly unique, and will challenge any previous notions of what you think of as a witch. The entity entered the Bell's life quietly and eventually over time ragged into a violent and malevolent poltergeist. What really makes this tale unique is three things. First, this entity spoke plainly and in English, second, it affected an entire community of hundreds of individuals, and finally, it actually murdered or claimed to have murdered John Bell.
EP 12: Prophecy, Scrying, and Divination
In this episode we dive into the history and the techniques of divination. We will specifically discuss water scrying, crystal gazing, pendulum divination, seer stones, and dowsing and relate their uses by famous practitioners such as The Druids, Nostradamus, John Dee, and Joseph Smith, Jr. We will also discuss both the society and cultural perception of deviation, both positive and negative.

The university was established in 1901 by James Millikin and is known to be profoundly haunted by multiple ghosts including the infamous “Rail Girl.” This episode also includes an interview with Jeremy Brunk, a Millikin University professor, about an upcoming spooky experience that you can all take part in.
EP 10: The Kelly-Hopkinsville Encounter
Ever wonder how aliens got tied to UFOs and UFOs got tied to “little green men”? The Kelly-Hopkinsville Encounter is the answer. The encounter took place in Kelly, Kentucky in 1955 and is perhaps the earliest and most well documented alien-human contact on record in the United States. The encounter incited a four hour gun battle between a group of small creatures and a family on a rural Kentucky farm.

EP 04: Bruce
“A few minutes went by and the loudest bang I have ever heard shook the whole cabin. I immediately jumped out of my bunk and was standing in the middle of the small 10 foot wide cabin. The entire cabin began to shake. Back and forth violently. It was so much movement it shook Chris out of his bunk and onto the floor. It seemed like forever that the cabin was shaking. It was so violent that one of the 2x4 rafters snapped and a 2x4 fell to the floor. My only thought was that whatever this thing is, it’s coming through the wall.”
EP 03: The Mad Gasser of Mattoon
In September 1944, as summer faded into fall, there was a series of terrifying attacks in Mattoon where over two dozen ordinary citizens became victims to noxious gas attacks in their own homes. All victims reported strange odors and strange symptoms such as nausea and temporary paralysis. Citizens were gripped in fear.
